Try to imagine a deaf dog with CI, LOL! It won't know where the sound comes from anyway!

You ask a reasonable question, but as usual, Carl gives an ignorant response. Yes, cochlear implants were first tested on animals, just like all medical devices. The animal of choice was a cat because they have a similar ear structure to humans.

Yes, they tried C.I.s on deafened animals for a period of years. That is mandatory as scientists are not allowed to experiment on people first.

I'm against animal testing/experiments big time!

They should have tested the CI on humans first.....like prisoners who are in for life.

I think the doctors or scientists should experiment themselves along to see if it working or not. They assume everything too much.

Animal rights people will agree that experimenting animals is CRUEL to the core. Those who support experimenting animals are SICKO!

They have to be anonymous because they are SICK!

Amen to that, Carl.

about the CI having effects on causing infection, that is true. did the doctors test for all possibilities? no. my daughter has a CI and if the doctors knew then that it would make my daughter more suseptible to meningitis, i would have not allowed her to get one.
